This movie follows three generations of romance, centering on Cal (Carell) and his failing marriage. It has the perfect combination of sweetness and comedy without being too cheesy or predictable. What really makes this film is that all of the actors are fantastic and everyone has great chemistry (Gosling and Stone really stand out). While you don't get the typical 'happy ending' the resolution still leaves you feeling pretty good.
