Blog babes

Just a few days after I met up with Sabrina, I had another date with her and Cindy and Marit (her blog is offline right now). Us four bloggers had a great time shopping, sipping coffee and going to dinner. We've hung out before, so it was nice to see these girls again. And I love blogger meetups. Because you're involved in the same thing you can talk about blogging for an hour straight, without anyone getting bored :P Can't believe New Years Eve is tomorrow! Are you excited?

ps. you can now get a peek in my personal life and hear about blog updates by following me at www.twitter.com/yaragotstyle
Tweet your NYE look to me! :D

Hi! Are you enjoying your holidays? I was featured in the december issue of Eve magazine alongside the lovely bloggers from Life in travel and Tink in my closet. Fun fact; the article was written by fellow blogger Vicky from Magpie girl. (read the big version here)

And... I've entered the world of Tweets! So to find out more about my personal life or blog updates you can follow www.twitter.com/yaragotstyle Are you on Twitter as well?

Winter parade

The best part about tapered pants is that you get to wear leggings underneath. (And their maximum comfort obviously). This is just a casual outfit, I wore a purple bag with it but forgot to shoot it. My necklace was just 1 euro at h&m, what a bargain! Actually, I've gotten a handfull of new neckwear. Such an easy way to update your look within a small budget.

Christmas is around the corner, so sipping hot chocolate and eating candy is my number one activity. This time of the year always leads me to reflect on the past months. I can't believe another year has gone by, and a great one at that! This year has given me some great opportunities and positive experiences, and much more is to come. I wish you loads of happiness and great outfits in 2010. Big hugs!

Will you make the cut?

Tommy + Heidi = Fashion reality heaven

Fashion reality shows like Project Runway are my guilty pleasure. Once Heidi starts talking, I'm hooked! With little drama and actual talent it might be hard to top Project Runway, but two new shows are premiering tonight. One is The fashion show, hosted by Isaac Mizrahi and Kelly Rowland (Really? Kelly Rowland?) and the other is The cut. Tommy Hilfiger hosts this show in which 16 designers compete to create a line for mr. Hilfiger himself. So that sounds promising. Both shows have already aired where some of you live, so are they any good?
Either way, I'm tuning in. Auf Wiedersehen! ;)

ps. Tomorrow I will announce the winner of the give-away

So charming

Let me put it simple: original packaging is the key to my heart. It grabs your attention and really adds to the product. So imagine my joy when I open a box and find a paint can with a scarf inside. Circle scarfs are my favorites and this one from Donni Charm (thanks Alyssa!) is really soft and has a silver charm and little chains on it. This baby is glued to my neck from now on!

Man, it's frrreezing out here, so I stacked up two skin colored tights underneath these dotted ones. (The length a girl goes to to wear her favorite stockings!) Will it be a white Christmass where you live too? ps. You can still enter the give away in the previous post. And you can also make me really happy by following me on Bloglovin from now on!

1.000 followers = Give away!

So here's what happened. I log on to my blog (a steady morning ritual) and noticed I had passed 1000 followers over night! A THOUSAND followers! Things seem to go by the speed of light. At first I was thrilled with over 500 daily hits. Now each month around 75.000 of you surf to This chick's got style.

You have been amazing, visiting my blog, giving your feedback and leaving sweet comments. A special thanks to the returning readers and visitors, who I always recognize by name and picture. It means a lot to hear from you time after time!

To thank you, I'm (randomly) giving away a bag by Dutch designer Susan Bijl. It's made out of kite fabric and has a great graphic feel to it. Perfect to just throw your stuff in on a casual day. If you're not a follower yet, you can become one by simply clicking on Follow at the right. (you can also participate if you're not a follower). Just leave a comment or your e-mail adress! Big hugs, Yara

And the winner is... # 34, My I.D. is E.E.D. (I couldn't find your e-mail adress so you can e-mail me on thischicksgotstyle@hotmail.com) Enjoy!

Hot date

Yesterday I had a hot date! With a girl that is, and a blogger to be exact. Me and Sabrina from Afterdrk met up in our lovely city of Amsterdam to have lunch and do some serious shopping. It was such a fun day and I really liked hanging out together.

ps. I was featured on the website of Glamour magazine!

Leather lover

Chop Chop. That's the sound I'll be hearing tomorrow! I can tell you that I dread a simple haircut like some fear the dentist. Ok, little exaggeration here because my hairdresser is great :P. But still, those saved up inches will be missed!

You're such a poser

Being called a poser is usually not a good thing. But in this case it is! Mary Kate is working it like a true model at this Nylon shoot. I always love behind the scenes footage! And I'm very impressed with how comfortable she is in front of the camera. Maybe it comes naturally if you're practically raised in the spotlights?

ps. Oops! I accidentally deleted my previous post about big shoulders on a small budget! As I said, I ran in to Andy from Style Scrapbook at Zara. Really nice to meet her in person. Andy has style and a great personality so def check out her blog!

All that glitters is not gold

Stores are overflowing with sequins and other sassy shiners this holiday season. So if you're still stuck with a closet full of nothing on december 30th, a sequin dress is the easy way out. Get them at H&M, River Island or Asos and then splurge on some champagne!

Dress: River island - Shoes: Zara

Style file: H&M spring

The H&M spring collection has got me drewling. Must. Have. Beige. Shoes. These items are all about unexpected shapes and details. And sandy shades with a pop of color is always a plus in my book. I can't wait to play around with those grey jogger inspired pants. They would be so chic with a pair of wedge booties and a blazer! And a very legitimate craving as I registered at a gym today... (Honestly, I'd rather go shopping to burn some calories!)

Back to black

Black never fails to be chique. So I opted for an all black look to get dressed in a few minutes and still have the instant glam this color provides.

ps. Excuse the crappy quality of the first picture. When you take a picture after 5 pm ( = almost dark nowadays) you have to stand really still for it to be sharp!

That's bananas!

Getting Rachel Zoe slang out of my vocabulary after watching the entire second season in one weekend is rather challenging, yet nessecary. Because answering that's bananas to any given question is just out of control. At own risk, here's the link to season 2. I die!

I ♥ Choo

Wet palms, nerves running, fingers aching. Just one night untill Jimmy Choo for H&M hits the stores! Which items will you be hunting down? I made quite an elaborate wishlist so... See ya online at 10 exact!

Get your hands on it

I got my hands on the coveted silver Chanel nail polish - literally. Since it's fall I'm layering garments all the time and decided to do the same thing for my nails. Applying this silver polish over a black one really gives a nice, deep color. The outfit is something I wore to university on a random day. Didn't intend to get repetitive with the stripes, but I do wear items more than once of course ;)

Daydreaming

Sometimes I get carried away thinking about free shopping sprees. In these daydreams I try on piles and piles of fashion goods and get to take everything with me. In a minor extent, this happend yesterday. I traveled al the way back to antwerp to spent the Louis gift voucher and after putting down a little extra cash, I brought home black Acne skinnies and a flowy Acne blouse with elongated back. It's is the ultimate staple piece. So off to another daydream now; outfit possibilities with my new blouse...

Blouse: Acne - Jeans: Acne - Bag: Guess - Necklace: River Island - Ankle boots: h&m

Stripe away

Although stripes have never really gone out of style, they're now bigger than ever. And it's not without reason. A striped tee is the perfect go-to item for when you don't feel like pondering on an outfit. And they're available at a broad range of price points. So I say, stripe away! I got this shirt a while back at h&m for just 10 euro's and love the low shoulder. Another low key shoot thanks to the weather, sigh..

Dot com

It's not always the big things that make you happy. It doesn't take the perfect job, the perfect wardrobe, the perfect relationship and so on. Yesterday I slept in, grabbed coffee with my boyfriend, went for dinner and a movie. It made me feel great to have nothing to do and absolutely nowhere to go.

The movie I watched is New York, I love you and it's a must see for sure! Fragments of people's lives in the big city, that you can't really grasp because you don't know their backgrounds. Just as in real life. Today I wanted to shoot my panneled faux leather pants. Because of the rain I couldn't do that outside, so my boyfriend took these in my bedroom. (wouldn't wear these shoes out anymore, too cold!)

Meet maison Anna Heylen

These pictures were taken during the Antwerp fashion weekend on a visit to Maison Anna Heylen, a belgium design house, situated in a breathtaking building from 1904 (black walls, definately a decoration diy!). It has a champagne bar, a store, rooms to receive clients and more. Getting a small tour there was very inspiring. On the last picture you see some of the dolls Anna made, 'just to keep her hands busy'. They are so interesting, a little odd even, wearing unique creations in size xxxxxxxxxs.

I posted about things I experienced when I was in Antwerp at the fashion weekend, but I know all you fashion freaks really just wonder one thing; what was everyone wearing! These were taken on the last day, when we were walking around in Antwerp. I will post pictures of the other bloggers too, but I'm yet transferring those images to my new laptop after my other one crashed!

ps. See what each blogger writes about the fashion weekend on the Antwerp facebook page - or become a member yourself!

A little fringe

You know how sometimes you have to get things done and just can't seem to focus? Usually I work hard and concentrated, but I need to finish three essays and all I want to do is curl up on the couch with some movies and turn off my brain :P

Pictures were taken before getting coffee with my boyfriend near my appartment. The blazer is actually cream colored. (I was wearing a coat since it's pretty windy - as you can tell from my hair - but it's not in the picture).

Bold and beautiful

This week I visited the Dutch Design week. In my opinion it wasn't the strongest year in the interior design section. I did notice a few really interesting pieces and it's always nice to visit and open your mind up to new ideas. This year was the first time I saw clothes as well. Generation Bold & Brave displayed items of 2009's best graduates from different Dutch fashion schools. That led to a really interesting mix of bold styles.
